See the temperature data published by the motes

  • Connect your SmartMesh IP Manager to your computer.

  • Turn your SmartMesh IP Manager on.

  • Turn on all your motes, and wait for them to join your manager.

  • In the TempMonitor application, select “network type: SmartMesh IP” and click “load”.

  • In the “manager connection” frame, in the “port name” field, enter the API port of your SmartMesh IP Manager. A table appears which lists the motes in your network

  • What are the temperatures of your motes?

  • Compare that to other groups.

  • Place a mote on a hot/cool area and make sure the reported temperature changes.

Get the publish rate

  • Get the current publish rate of a mote by pressing the "get" button. What is the default value?

  • Verify that value with your stopwatch.

Set the publish rate

  • Using the "set" button, configure the mote to publish a temperature reading every 5 s.
  • After a couple of minutes, make sure this mote published more data than the other motes in the network.
Tip

At the end of this lab, revert all motes to publishing at their default rate.

Toggle the blue LED of your motes

  • Using the "toggle led" button, make sure you can toggle the status LED on all motes.
